Dinar sold out in Kelantan

PETALING JAYA: Kelantan’s gold dinar that was recently introduced has been sold out with most people buying it for investment purposes. Kelantan Gold Trade (KGT) Sdn Bhd that issues the dinar and the silver dirham said about RM1.5mil worth of dinar and RM1mil worth of dirham had been sold since it was introduced on Aug 12.

“We kindly request the public to wait until after Aidilfitri if they wish to purchase any more dinar. Now, only the dirham coins is available but it will be strictly sold to those who want to use it to pay tithe,” said KGT chief executive officer Umar Ibrahim Vadiloo to reporters here Saturday.

Bank Negara issues new takaful licences

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 – Malaysia’s central bank said today it has issued four family takaful licences to four joint venture companies.

The joint venture companies include American International Assurance Berhad and Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad; AMMB Holdings Berhad and Friends Provident Group (UK); ING Management Holdings (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Public Bank Berhad and Public Islamic Bank Berhad; and Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited and Koperasi Angkatan Tentera Malaysia Berhad.

“The new family takaful operators have strong value propositions that will further enhance the development of the family takaful industry in Malaysia,” the central bank said in a statement. – Reuters

PUTRAJAYA - Timbalan Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Omar, 57, hari ini dicadangkan untuk dilantik sebagai Ketua Polis Negara yang baru menggantikan Tan Sri Musa Hassan yang akan tamat kontrak pada 12 September ini.

Mengumumkan demikian di sini, Menteri Dalam Negeri, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein berkata, Pengarah Jabatan Keselamatan Dalam Negeri dan Ketenteraman Awam (KDN/KA), Datuk Hussin Ismail, 57, pula dicadangkan untuk dilantik sebagai Timbalan Ketua Polis Negara.

Sehubungan itu, beliau bagi pihak kerajaan mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada Musa yang telah berkhidmat selama 41 tahun dalam pasukan Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM).

Presiden dan semua Ahli Majlis Eksekutif DPMM Pusat mengambil kesempatan ini untuk mengucapkan Jutaan Tahniah atas perlantikan tersebut.
